It is quite easy to spend your time in Sydney with shopping, walking around and writing our articles about the lovely time we had in Tasmania. After doing so for two days we picked up our minivan and drove out in the direction of the Blue Mountains withhin an hour in beautyful weather for Australian standarts: It was raining cats and dogs.
Early the next morning we visited the famous Three Sisters without seeing anything from the valley at all. So thick and heavy was the fog. But it wasn't long and the sun came through and we admired the stunning scenery in for our standarts, good weather: Bright sunshine. Unfortunately many of the walks in this NP were closed due to bushfires almost a year ago. It is still dangerous and branches may fall on you. It was great for us to see that the trees and plants do recover after such a dramatic event. To see the green leaves poping out of a blackened trunk is worth seeing it.
After that we decided to leave out the so called Gold Coast with their beautiful sandy beaches. We drove for a short time along it and turned inland to see the Capital, Canberra. That for we had to drive over the great dividing range with their immense forests. Afterwards came a region where farmers (try to) tend the land. We could see what we heard so many times in the news: The drought is awful this year...
The Capital presented itself as we read and heard from so many. Very organised (wide streets well signed), tidy and green (now brown and dry) because of several parks. The city itself is an uncosy place because it is hard to find a Cafe not to mention a pup.
But the parliament was worth a visit and I recommend it to everyone. We asked one of the staff a simple question and it ended in an hourly talk we really enjoyed.
